This blog is to showcase steals, thrills, & mega deals in the shopping world. By this, I don't mean snatching up a Coach bag off E-bay for a couple hundred bones...I mean snatching up EVERYDAY needs (& sometimes wants) for pennies on the dollar...ie- children's socks for $1, cream of mushroom soup for 50 cents, Old Navy skirts for 99 cents...got it? Feel free to pass any of YOUR fab finds my way & I'll post them, giving credit to you of course. Happy Savings!

"February Frugality" Challenge #3......Love is in the air...and in the scissors.

Nothing says "I LOVE YOU" more than a 'heart'-felt message. In year's past, we've always bought V-day cards and stickers/tattoos...some fun little insert...for all the nieces & nephews.

Since our siblings have decided to multiply like rabbits this past year, we have too many Valentines to purchase.

Last year's Valentine's Card purchases:
6 kids @ .99 each
1 for hubby @ 3.99 each
1 for live-in manny (my brother) @ 3.99 each
2 for Grandparents @ 3.99 each
1 pkg stickers as inserts & decor @ 1.99 each

EQUALS= $23.89 + CA sales tax = GRAND TOTAL of $25.86! Ridiculous!

This year, Avy & I made all the cards & cut up old stickers to insert in the cards. GRAND TOTAL of FREE! Fabulous!

And as for envelopes, I pulled out all those old wedding thank you note envelopes collecting dust, slapped some pink & purple on the front and called it a day.

So your 4th Challenge for the month is this:
Make some home-made Valentine's Day Cards today for 2 points!!! If you email a picture of them to me (hay.atwd@gmail.com) or if you post a picture of them on your blog, you will get an EXTRA point!

Gamers, go dust off your scissors & Crayolas.

I actually made some online Valentines the other day for FREE. It was a promo code, which unfortunately has ended but I did post about it here:
http://johnsenthree.blogspot.com/2009/01/free-valentines.html

I received 6, perfect for family!
I was also planning on going to a play group today with my little one and we were going to make Valentine cards, but my daughter has the flu (third time in a month, argh!!!) and so I think I'll just find time to make some on my own today, and email you pics
Thanks for the challenges!

Okay, so since my daughter has the flu (and does nothing but sleep when sick) I had tons of time this morning to be crafty. So I made some Valentine cards for my hubby and little one.
Love the fun challenges!

Snap! Charlie just bought a box of Valentines today. $2.00. I am not so great at this game!

I don't normally do VDay cards, but I made one for my main man anyway. He'll appreciate that I didn't spend any money on it. Maybe I'll include the box of cherry candy canes that I got at Toys R Us for $.10. Thanks for the idea Hayley!

Well, we did it! Or maybe I should say my kids did it! I got all the stuff out and they totally took over! They had a blast doing it and they can't wait to hand them out!

I'll send you an email with the results!

Such a fun idea. I had the YW that didn't have anything to do (or were on break) make some tonight at Stake Play practice... one of the YM made one too :) We're giving them to the kids at Stanford Children's Hospital. I'll email you the pic I took... I did buy some stickers though... but I got a really good deal on them (over a thousand for only $1.99)... so hopefully that still counts? :)
