This blog is to showcase steals, thrills, & mega deals in the shopping world. By this, I don't mean snatching up a Coach bag off E-bay for a couple hundred bones...I mean snatching up EVERYDAY needs (& sometimes wants) for pennies on the dollar...ie- children's socks for $1, cream of mushroom soup for 50 cents, Old Navy skirts for 99 cents...got it? Feel free to pass any of YOUR fab finds my way & I'll post them, giving credit to you of course. Happy Savings!

Let's Spice things up a bit-----Feb 5th's Frugality Challenge!!!

First thing first. I'm impressed with both your gaming & your artsy skills so far, Ladies! Here are a few of your home-made Valentine's Day cards:

The words on this hot little number say:
"We make a great match.

Be My Valentine."

EXCELLENT WORK, ALL!

So on to the next task.

Picture this:

It's 4:00pm. You need to feed your crew. You are quickly making a grocery list and notice the recipe calls for a few different spices.

Do you have those spices?

You don't know & you have NO time to search through your chaotic cupboard.

So what comes? You buy more spices at the store only to later discover you already have 2 jars of dried basil. Nuts!

Could there possibly be a solution? Complete this task & you'll have the answer.

CHALLENGE #5: Today let's organize your spices & extracts by making a list of what you have. Doing this will help you AVOID buying unnecessary items.....and it will make your life a pinch easier. If you already have a spicy log, your challenge today is to make a log of your soups. I find that I have multiple cans of soup, & yes it's nice to have them on hand, but it'd be nice to know what's there.

If you complete your log of either spices/extracts OR soups, you will earn your lucky self

3 POINTS today!!!

For anyone new joining, it's not too late! There will still be several challenges that will award multiple points....you're playing for a $30 gift card YAY!

Mission accomplished! This is such a great idea! There have been a few times that I get to the store, and realize I didn't check to see if I have the spices at home that are on my list. So I call up my husband to check if we have the spices, he of course says no, I buy them only to find out that I already had them. In fact while making my spice list I found multiple duplicates in spices. The challenge was also great for finally getting around to organizing my spice cabinet.
thanks!

I just happened to organize all my spices alphabetically this past Saturday! I had two jars of ground nutmeg (enough for about 1,000 pumpkin pies?) And two packages of crushed red pepper (enough to make your hair catch on fire?). What a great idea to write them all down...I actually put them on my phone so I have easy access during my spontaneous trips to the store. Thanks!

Wow! I didn't know what was hiding back in that cupboard. Why I have 3 Cream of Tartars I don't know. Ginger bread houses anyone? I put my list on the inside of the cabinet door for easy checking. Oh, and I found a jar of Mace spice that had an expiration date of March 1984! How that was in there I don't have the slightest idea.

Here is my list. Parsley, Basil and Garlic salt. My list didn't take too long to make!

Man I wish I would have completed this task BEFORE I went to the store and bought some lemon pepper that I didn't need! I would have saved 5 bucks!
Well I did it and found multiples of a few different spices. I guess this will end up more beneficial than I thought it would :)

Done and done. I didn't realize how many spices I've run out of. I'm glad you gave us this challenge. I would have hated making spaghetti tomorrow and found out too late that I was missing several spices.

Thanks for the challenge!

Did it. What a smart idea! Kevin will appreciate it. He hates when I call from the store to have him sort through all the shelves.
