This blog is to showcase steals, thrills, & mega deals in the shopping world. By this, I don't mean snatching up a Coach bag off E-bay for a couple hundred bones...I mean snatching up EVERYDAY needs (& sometimes wants) for pennies on the dollar...ie- children's socks for $1, cream of mushroom soup for 50 cents, Old Navy skirts for 99 cents...got it? Feel free to pass any of YOUR fab finds my way & I'll post them, giving credit to you of course. Happy Savings!

Challenge #3. Put the bottled water down, and walk away.

Hi my name is Hayley and I used to be an H2O addict. I would carelessly drink & drink & drink all day, never once thinking about my foolish actions.

I'm a new woman now. I've stopped nursing the bottled water and I now......brace yourself......
go tap.
I fill up my awesome El Camino Hospital water bottle, or if that's dirty I grab the ol' green guy in the morning and I'm good to go for the day, with several refills from the tap of course.

I figured out how much I've been saving by cutting back my bottled water habit. Have a gander:
-35 bottles/case
-with CA redemption tax the case would = out to roughly $6.00
-I would go through about a case a week
-52 x $6 = $312 I'm now saving per year

In fact, it's more than that b/c I was very genereous with my bottled water & would share often.

SO......

Your challenge for Feb 3rd is not to give up bottled water altogether, but just try it for a day. Drink from the tap folks, drink from the tap.

This challenge will earn you 1 point should you be successful. And if you already steer clear of the plastic punch, then you have an easy point coming your way.
Make sure to leave a comment telling me you completed this challenge with honors.

Question: Am I allowed to drink filtered tap water from our fridge? The only reason I ask is because sometimes the water that comes directly from the tap is orange. I think a $30 filter that lasts almost the whole year is a better deal than the medical bills that might transpire from said orange water. Please advise.

I'm already a tap drinker, so I'll go ahead and comment early on this one for a point
Thanks!

I'm also already a tap water drinker, so I'll comment early too since it's basically done!

lindsay...$30 from a filter is much cheaper than a year's supply of bottled water, and much cheaper than dr's bills due to orange water consumption.
permission granted to go filter today.

danielle & rachelle...you are awesome! not only are you saving $, but the environment as well. feel free to hug a tree today :)

mmm, what if I drink from the tap at home, but bottled at work where it is supplied by the company? Do I get a point?

I drink from the tap as well. I keep my reusable bottles filled in the fridge because I like my water freezing cold. That was an easy point!

I resorted to the water fountain today. Thank you for saving me hundreds!

I'm a tap drinker, yay!

(It's the black acid that bankrupts the Carter Household. I rue the day you ask us to give that up!)

I am glad today is my "rest" day from Running , otherwise I would have failed this challenge. See I drive my running route ahead of time and stash bottled water in tress and bushes so I dont have to jog with them... I dont like staching my good water bottles, so I use the plastic ones. p.s. I did get a SUPER goos deal on bottle water at Albertsons though... so I don't feel too bad!

So I am a water brat. What can I say, I'm no tap drinker.

Luckily, with my current state of constant thirst I don't care so much. Mission accomplished.

Awesome! I did it, and thanks for the reminder that I should reach for tap before a bottle. I've been really lazy and grabbing a new bottle lately instead of filling up an old one. Thanks!
